Sunday Sunday Sunday!

Just thought I'd change my posting style up a little bit.  It's been a great weekend and I am looking forward to it continuing through to my week!

I absolutely couldn't not be more excited...

To be getting a press!  And 8 color press at that!

It needs a little cleaning, and a few updates, but it is already in perfect working order.  (I just want to get stronger springs.)

M and I came up with a label name a while back, and we have been using it for a tag design for the few shirt orders that we have done thus far...

B&McGee.  It works so perfectly.  I'm B, he's McGee, its rhymey and fun.  We pick the press up tomorrow after I get off work, my bosses are selling it to me, they don't need it at our new shop we just moved into.  So it will be finding a home at M and my's home.  There are going to be so many fun projects that I can do now!  So many shirts I can print, designs I can print on my clothing I make, posters I can do... The possibilities are endless.  What's even more funny to me about all of this, is just yesterday I was planning a budget in my head to get a press, and a flash unit, and everything else I would need, and along comes this awesome opportunity to purchase this press, with a flash built onto it, and a few screens (thrown in for free) for about 850 dollars LESS than I was budgeting in my head!

So pretty soon, I should be posting my designs, clothing, shirts, posters, stationery, whatever I feel like makings up, and soon after that...
I'm going to try to get stuff sold.  Because this is the stuff I want to be doing.  Designing for myself, selling my work, and finally feeling like I didn't waste a ton of money on the ridiculously expensive, but oh so valuable because I have some amazing skills to put to use, art school education.

Now if only a letterpress could just fall into my lap....

P.S. my new glasses came in the mail today, and the neighborhood kitty that I had been missing (and just thought about how much I missed it this morning) came to see me.  Apparently I just need to think about the things that I need/want to see and they come to me.  It's like I have magic.

Being handy is always handy...

I built this plant hanger today to hang my tomato plant from.  It used to live under my tree, next to my swing, but it wasn't getting enough sun to actually start growing tomatos.  So I used some extra pvc piping we had lying around, cut it in half, then cut "U" shapes in half of it to mount the other pipe cross piece in.  After mounting the hook for the screw, and hanging the plant, I figured out where to drill holes so that when it rains, the pipe will catch water and water the plant!  I'm super excited about this, and can't wait to get more plants to start in this awesome hanging garden!  I'm so glad that my dad made sure I had the skills to get stuff done on my own!  Thanks Dad!  You're the greatest!

I'm getting new glasses and I couldn't be more excited.  The down side is that I have to wait 2 weeks for them, but the upside is for prescription, shipping and everything, I only spent 28.95.  Which is awesome.  Zennioptical.com is a lifesaver for someone who changes their mind about their glasses or looses glasses often.

M and I printed the shirts for the Electrocity party this weekend,

Then we modeled them.  It was crazy, because after we posted them online, so many people were asking how to purchase one after the fact, instead of pre-ordering.  Maybe there was confusion in that...who knows.  But I think some people are going to miss out because we only ordered enough to fulfill the pre-orders, plus a few extras.  They came out awesomely though, I'm really excited to be printing these shirts, and getting a jump on getting our t-shirt design company (b&mcgee) under way.

I was inspired by a book my boss had to work on my sketching, and filling techniques.  The ikat design on the middle left also inspired the new banner design for the same boss' banner design I did for her blog, twitter, website, etc.  It is also still very much so under construction, but it's getting there!

M and I have been cooking and grilling out so much lately, it's so great, delicious, and healthy!

I made these awesome kabob's with zucchini, squash, onion, garlic, mushrooms, and chicken.  We also had homemade sweet potato fries, which I forgot to take a picture of.

I'm still trying to figure out exactly what I want my blog re-design to look like.  I'm happy with the banner, but the page itself feels so empty.  I'm just not sure what it needs or even what I want. Suggestions would be great.  As for the rest of my day, I need to be farewell to two good friends as they move to Phoenix, I am going to miss them so much, get my studio back in order after switching out shelving, and maybe get some sewing done on a skirt and shirt that I have been putting off all week.

P.S.  I'm going to see Sucre tomorrow night, and I couldn't be more excited.

P.P.S. I've been 27 for a month today, and some really great things are already on the horizon for me.  I have a feeling this is going to be a great golden year.

New look, new feel, new name, same great blog!

I've finally gotten my blog revamp under way.  I made a new banner, slightly re did the color scheme, added some more tabs, which I will get things organized under (soonish) recipes, crafts, things I love and such.  I changed the web address to b-sartainstudio.blogspot.com since it's not just my cooking blog anymore, and renamed the whole shebang with my monicker b.sartain.  Which is what I use for all the art work I produce.  So more changes to come, just wanted to keep you awares of what was happening around here.

I still need to figure out what kind of sign out thing I want to use, I'm not really an xoxo person, and I'm not sure what else really works...

Decisions decisions...
Maybe this is what it will be...

April's so lovely...

This month has been so lovely.  I'm sad to see the month almost over, because the weather has just been so lovely, I don't want to see the wonderful weather go.  It's been perfect for swinging, yard work, tending my herb garden, grilling out, and general outdoors fun.

I came home from work one day to enjoy the late afternoon sun, a beer, and the swing in our front yard.

I have found my favorite jam at the Nashville farmers market.  It is the best jam I have ever had.  M and I went back the other day to buy some more, and I bought all the jars that they have!

My best ole dog loves to snuggle with me on the couch.  He almost takes up more couch than I do!

M brought me home some beautiful flowers last weekend.  I was so excited to wake up and find them on the kitchen counter, he surprised me with them.

We had a lovely brunch last sunday as well, and I made raspberry lemonade, with fresh mint from the garden, lemon slices, and a couple of squeezes of lemon juice.

Our backyard is really shaping up, I can't wait to get all the plants from our old place, (which friends live in so I can go back and get them), to finish out my outdoor patio oasis.  It's going to be so so lovely.

While M was at work one night, I made some pan grilled spicy plum and chipotle glaze chicken tenders, green bean, strawberry, mint and feta salad, and toasted bagels with cheese.

A few days later when M WAS at home we had homemade Sopa De Pollo, with fresh jalapenos, avocados, and pepper jack cheese.  So so so so so, good.

We celebrated our anniversary on wednesday with a cookout...

Of petite filet mignon, homemade sweet potato fries, and grilled corn.

Friday was M's birthday (4/20 haha) so I surprised him with...

homemade peanut butter cupcakes, nutella buttercream icing, and coconut on top!

The recipe was only supposed to make 20 cupcakes, I ended up with 53!!  HOLY MOLY!

And then today we cooked out again, grilled sweet potato's, grilled apples with cinnamon, sugar, and butter, green bean salad with strawberries and grilled onions, and grilled hot dogs, onions, and avocados!

We have had such lovely meals!!  I love grilling and cooking out.  Especially when the weather is so perfect.  We are so excited to go to the farmers market this week, to get more fresh fruits and veggies, to use our grill more often, and enjoy this wonderful weather!!
